Pianist, songwriter, the American singer is only 41 and yet she seems to have lived many lives. The young Alicia Keys was immersed in the artistic world when she firstdiscovered her passion: the piano. Later, she joined the prestigious Manhattan’s Professional Performing Arts School, where she perfected her vocal technique. The prodigy was only 20 when she released her first album, Songs in A Minor, which sold 12 million copies. “Fallin” became a hit and Alicia Keys won five Grammy Awards. Then, she released her second album, The Diary of Alicia Keys (2003), which won four Grammy Awards, including Best R&B Duo Performance for My Boo with Usher. In 2007, No One from her third album, As I Am, went straight to the top of the charts. In 2009, she co-wrote the song Empire State of Mind with Jay-Z, an anthem dedicated to their hometown, New York, which was a huge success. The same year, she released her fourth album The Element of Freedom including her duo with Drake. After a brief eclipse, the artist made an acclaimed comeback on the world music scene in 2012 with another album, Girls on Fire.
