The 69th edition of the Monaco Red Cross Gala, the Principality’s major summer event, was held on Friday 28 July 2017 in the famous Salle des Etoiles concert hall of the Sporting Monte-Carlo. HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, President of the Monaco Red Cross, and HSH Princess Charlene together with around 650 guests attended this gala ball.

A Gala Ball Focusing on Solidarity

Since 10th August 1948, the Monaco Red Cross has organised this prestigious, world famous event.  At this glamorous gala, many celebrities, artists, sportsmen and women, politicians and business leaders give their support to the initiatives carried out by the Monaco Red Cross throughout the year. This event raises funds to help finance the Monaco Red Cross’ various local and international projects. These include the Loumbila Multipurpose Training Centre in Burkina Faso, one of the largest humanitarian projects organised by the Monaco Red Cross and carried out in collaboration with the Burkina Faso Red Cross. In an integrated, sustainable environment, this 6-hectare complex will offer training, accommodation units and conference rooms, which will open at the start of 2018.

Celebrities committed to a humanitarian cause

The presenter Maïtena Biraben and the actor François Cluzet were the masters of ceremony of this 2017 edition. After the tombola and its prestigious prizes, Elhadj As Sy, Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, took to the stage to praise the actions of the Monaco Red Cross, recalling that: “There has been no humanitarian appeal [in the world] that has not benefited from the support of the Monaco Red Cross”. A touching moment reminding the guests of the reason why they were all there.

To close the event, Christine and the Queens, a young talented artist, accompanied by her 4 dancers and 3 musicians, added a contemporary touch to this Gala, which will celebrate its 70th anniversary next year.
