Become an international humanitarian voluntary worker
Humanitarian voluntary worker: intent on travelling abroad?
A word of warning – most of our voluntary members carry out their work… in Monaco! Voluntary members asked to go out to the field have either been highly involved in a project or have vital technical skills which cannot be found in the country of intervention. Becoming a humanitarian aid worker means first and foremost sharing a vision of the world, humanitarian values and a community spirit.
Voluntary work: above all an exchange
Voluntary work is the greatest act of giving… In exchange for many other things! Humanitarian voluntary workers are regularly needed to take part in training sessions and events focused on international solidarity in Monaco or elsewhere. Meetings between humanitarian voluntary members, several times a year, provide an opportunity to create networks, to exchange, to share and even generate new synergy around the topic of international solidarity.
The organisation by area of expertise
The Monaco Red Cross’s international section is made up of a hundred or so volunteers grouped together in project committees, or specialist divisions:
- Technical division (housing, construction, water, engineering)
- Health division (food security, medical: paediatrics, orthopaedics, surgical, ophthalmological…)
- Education division (teaching, e-learning, activities)
- Capacity building division (project management, fundraising, follow-up/evaluation…)
- Logistics division (container loading, stock and mission organisation…)
