61st Monte Carlo Television Festival: Monaco Red Cross Special Prize
Published on 08.07.2022On Tuesday 21st 2022 the 61st Monte Carlo Television Festival drew to a close. Among the many prizes presented, the Monaco Red Cross Special Prize was awarded to a young German screenwriter, Lilly Bogenberger, for her fiction film “#Icarus”.
The jury consisting of the President, Pierre Jaeger, a member of the Luxembourg Red Cross Board of Directors, Annick Boisbouvier and Danielle Cottalorda, members of the Monaco Red Cross Board of Directors, selected this German film which turned the spotlight on several fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement such as humanity, voluntary service…
#Icarus addresses the danger of online challenges, particularly for young individuals. The film begins with the suicide of a student. The police find nothing suspicious about this suicide but a teacher working at the school where the young girl was a student tries to understand what really happened. With her sister she discovers that the student had signed up for an online challenge called “#Icarus”, where participants have to carry out 17 tasks, the last being suicide.
The teacher puts herself at risk by signing up to the platform to discover who is behind this diabolical game and finally save a life.
