On Saturday 6th May 2017, the celebration of World Red Cross Day brought together over 2000 people at the Léo Ferré Hall in Fontvieille. Everyone was able to take advantage of the attractive prices at the sale while supporting a worthwhile cause in the presence of HSH Prince Albert II, President of the Monaco Red Cross.
Monaco, 11/05/2017 – Once again this year, over 2000 people grabbed the opportunity to pick up a “good deal” at the Monaco Red Cross sale. Thanks to all these buyers, the proceeds from the event amounted to 63,880€, in other words 8% higher than last year.
For the reader’s information, this record amount will be used entirely for the project implemented by the Monaco Red Cross concerning home medical visits for the sick and isolated elderly in Armenia.
The more the years go by, the more the figures are significant and speak for themselves: 550 cartons containing over 10 000 references of clothing, furniture, tableware, home textiles and other articles; 800 “World Red Cross Day” shopping bags sold ; 1500 tombola tickets sold…
During the day, a tombola took place enabling the 25 lucky winners to go home with some lovely prizes. The “activity” area for 3 to 12 year olds was full no sooner the doors had opened. In all, 66 children were accompanied by ten or so voluntary members and left with a “diploma” and small gifts.
HSH Prince Albert II, President of the Monaco Red Cross, especially took the time to attend the event and commended the 190 voluntary members and employees working on the stands.
The Monaco Red Cross would like to express its sincere thanks to all its loyal volunteers, partners and the incredibly generous public who came to share this moment of conviviality despite the bad weather.
Special thanks to the Armenian Cultural Centre, the staff from the Belgian Red Cross who made the journey especially, the National Nurses Association of Monaco and the Blood Donors Association for their presence.
