Access to clean drinking water and adequate sanitation remains a major public health challenge in several West African countries. Our projects aim to encourage good hygiene habits, promote responsible waste management, ensure access to safe toilets, and support regular handwashing with soap.
We restore water points, drill boreholes and work closely with local communities to help them manage and maintain long-term access to safe drinking water. These efforts are supported by the distribution of hygiene kits and the dissemination of key public health messages.
To diversify school meals and promote nutrition education, we also establish vegetable gardens in primary schools. Gardening activities are carried out throughout the year with support from teachers and parent–teacher associations. Home-grown produce — including aubergines, onions, okra, amaranth and more — helps make school meals healthier, more varied and more nutritious.
