In Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire, we implement projects aimed at protecting the most vulnerable children — particularly young girls at risk of early migration, child labour, exploitation or trafficking. To reduce the dangers linked to unsafe migration, we promote access to education and support mothers in strengthening their livelihoods, helping them improve their families’ quality of life.
We also empower young girls by developing their life skills — including confidence and self-esteem — and by creating opportunities for them to obtain technical and vocational qualifications. Working hand in hand with communities, we help prevent abuse, exploitation, neglect and other forms of violence against children, while ensuring that appropriate support is available when needed.
In both countries — and also in the Democratic Republic of the Congo — we support the legal registration of children without official birth documents. Without this essential document, a child has no legal identity and is denied access to basic rights, including education, inheritance, the right to vote and even freedom of movement.
