Support for CRM following the violent cyclone that hit the Southwestern region of the Indian Ocean
Published on 10.01.2025Monaco 07/01/2025 : On 14th December 2024, tropical cyclone Chido, a category 4 storm with devastating winds and torrential rain, severely impacted the Southwestern Indian Ocean region. The disaster resulted in at least 117 deaths and affected over one million people in Madagascar, the Comoros, Mayotte, Mozambique, and Malawi.
Critical infrastructure, including housing, schools, hospitals, and roads, sustained significant damage. Many families, already vulnerable before the disaster, now face precarious living conditions, lacking access to food, safe shelter, and electricity.
The Monaco Red Cross will provide financial support to address the urgent needs of those impacted by this devastating cyclone.
