The 14th Mediterranean Red Cross and Red Crescent Conference
Published on 03.07.2023In June 2023, the Monaco Red Cross took part in two international events organised by the Red Cross and Red Crescent Centre for Cooperation in the Mediterranean.
- From 10th to 12th June the 3rd Mediterranean Youth Meeting brought together 19 national societies. Marine Sirvent, the new delegate for the youth section elected in February 2023, attended on behalf of the Monaco Red Cross. The meeting provided an opportunity to highlight the importance of the younger generations in raising awareness, strengthening commitment, and adapting the role played by youth in current issues (migration, climate crisis and mental health).
- From 12th to 15th June, the 14th Mediterranean Conference of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies united 25 national societies including CRM, to discuss current and future humanitarian challenges. Actions related to climate and environmental change were also at the heart of the discussions.
CRM has agreed to be part of a thematic working group on climate change and the environment within the Centre for Cooperation in the Mediterranean. The goal of this working group is to give thought to a joint response to climate challenges with all the national societies in the Mediterranean region. (Prevention and concrete actions).
Last, CRM has endorsed the Cairo Declaration read at the end of the conference with the 24 other national societies in the Mediterranean region.
