The Small States in Solidarity with Spain
Published on 11.11.2024Monaco, November 11, 2024 : Since October 29, extreme weather events have affected Spain, which now faces the damage caused by devastating floods. This is one of the worst natural disasters in the country’s history, resulting in loss of life, significant disruptions, and material damage. The toll from the floods is rising, with nearly 200,000 people affected. Local authorities and emergency services have been deployed to assist the victims and those affected.
At the initiative of its President, H.S.H. Prince Albert, the Monaco Red Cross has allocated €50,000 from its own funds, which will be sent directly to the Spanish Red Cross. The disaster that Spain is experiencing has prompted the Red Cross societies of SENS, of which the CRM is a part, to come together to support the Spanish Red Cross. This common commitment allows them to fulfill their pledges and highlights their key role in humanitarian actions and crises on a global scale.

SENS is composed of members from eight national Red Cross societies of small European states: Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Montenegro, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, and Monaco.
