International Actions
Since its establishment in 1948, the Monaco Red Cross, recognised by the international community, has been taking action to improve the living conditions of vulnerable people worldwide. It intervenes by providing emergency aid in the event of a humanitarian disaster, but also by conducting development programmes with its partner countries. In Monaco, it strives to inform and raise awareness concerning International Solidarity.
In addition to its activities within the Principality, the National Red Cross Society of Monaco also intervenes at a global level:
International relief
It plays its humanitarian role by regularly responding to appeals for financial aid launched by its Federation, the ICRC or other national Red Cross or Red Crescent Societies in cases of major disasters worldwide.
International solidarity
In 2007, the CRM set up a department dedicated to international action (the International Humanitarian Section – SHI – placed under the responsibility of Ms. Yordanos Pasquier) – capable of addressing the needs expressed by the most vulnerable populations at the three levels of humanitarian aid intervention: Emergency-Rehabilitation-Development. Made up of international solidarity experts and dedicated volunteers, the SHI team endeavours to make a contribution to helping address the key challenges of the 21st century.
Projects
In 2021, the section continues to support the 10 projects underway in 7 countries of intervention:
South Africa, Armenia, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Italy, Democratic Republic of Congo, France and Syria and starts an 11th project in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
